The International Kennel Club of Chicago's annual dog show is at McCormick Place, 2301 S. Lake Shore Dr., Saturday and today from 8am to 4pm. Watch the dogs compete, meet the breeders and check out the vendors of various dog supplies. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, free for kids 12 and under. Discounts for two-day passes.
Poutine Fest is Chicago's first annual competition of Canadian late-night fast foods, named after poutine, a combination of french friends and cheese curds covered in gravy. The fest will host two sessions where participants can vote for the "King of Poutine," with both sessions beginning at Haymarket Pub & Brewery, 737 West Randolph Street. Session one goes from 12 to 2 p.m. and session two is 4 to 6 p.m. A general admission ticket is $70 for ages 21+.
The Northalsted Winter Fest begins today from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m with various events such as a live ice sculpting display. Between 2 - 4 p.m., Soup Walk will pair restaurants with retailers. Some pairings include The Chicago Diner at Paired Wine, Taverna 750 at Lighting by Fox, Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club at NoteworthyNotes and more. Admission is free.
The final showing of Luck of the Irish will run today at Next Theatre Company, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston, at 2pm. The play is set in the 1950s and tells a tale about an African-American family seeking to purchase a home in an all-white Boston neighborhood, so they pay an Irish family to "ghost buy" the home on their behalf. Ticket prices vary from $30-$45.
