Opening Reception @ Jackson Junge Gallery

Entitled, A Symphony of Realism and Abstraction, the Jackson Junge Gallery has a free exhibition running from March 7-April 27th. Located at 1389 N Milwaukee Ave, from 6-10pm. General gallery hours are 11-8 and Sundays 12-5.

First Friday @ Flat Iron Building

Join the party at the historic Flat Iron Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave, for tons of open artist studios and living spaces. The event takes place tonight from 6pm until 10pm. There is a suggested donation of $5.

The Interview Show @ Hideout

The Interview Show returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 6:30pm. This month host Mark Bazer talks with John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of the Autumn Defense; Douglas Druick, president of the Art Institute of Chicago; and the Reader's Mick Dumke and Ben Joravsky. There will also be an improv set by Astronaut Theatre. $8 at the door, which opens at 6pm. 21+

Peace on Earth Film Festival

The Peace on Earth Film Festival runs March 6-9 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., and features films about peace, nonviolence, social justice and ecology. The festival runs from 6 to 11pm tonight; see the schedule for films and times. Free.

The Lincoln Lodge @ Subterranean

The Lincoln Lodge comedy showcase features Jeff Steinbrunner, the Puterbaugh Sisters and Danny Kallas tonight at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., Doors are at 7:30pm, show's at 8pm. Tickets are $10. 21+

Chi-Town Jazz Festival @ Green Mill & Logan Center

The Chi-Town Jazz Festival runs March 6-11 at venues around the city. Tonight there are two shows; proceeds benefit Catholic Charities.

At UofC's Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St., the Ambrose Akinmusire Quintet plays at 7:30pm. Tickets are $35 ($5 for students), available at the door.

At the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway Ave., the Stephanie Browning Quartet kicks things off at 9pm, followed by Marquis Hill Blacktet and the Willie Pickens Band. $15 minimum donation at the door. 21+

Dan Deacon @ Subterranean

Dan Deacon plays his latest stuff, inspired by cross-country travel, tonight at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave. Potions and Jimmy Whispers open. Doors are at 8:30pm. Tickets are $15. UPDATE: Sold out.

Saintseneca @ Empty Bottle

Columbus alt-rockers Saintseneca headline tonight at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., with The Melodic, Busman's Holiday and Al Scorch. Read our preview in Transmission. Tickets are $10 and music starts at 9pm. 21+

The Drovers @ Abbey Pub
