Let's face it, this winter was the worst, and the cold remains this early into the spring. Show Mother Nature who's boss and head out to watch the 2014 Shamrock Shuffle. It's the world's largest timed 8K race and the unofficial kickoff to the Chicago running season. Afterwards, head over to the Post-Race Party at Grant Park's Buckingham Fountain and carb up with a beer or two. Or three.
The Randolph Street Market is back this weekend at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington St., with dozens of vendors selling antiques, vintage fashion, art and more. The show is open Saturday and today from 10am to 5pm both days. Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the gate. Wear an Easter bonnet for free admission.
Saturday and today, the International Vintage Poster Fair will be taking place at the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St. . This year the exhibition will feature posters which present products and technology that emerged far before our present time. The show is open from 11am to 6pm today; admission is $15.
Angelica Ross hosts the 2014 Trans 100 awards gala, honoring transgender community across the United States, tonight at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave. Tickets are free, and appear to be sold out. Doors open at 5:30, show starts at 7pm.
Italy's JoyCut joins Panda Riot, Torture Love and the Voice of Saturn tonight at Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave. Tickets are $10, doors open at 7:30pm, and the show's at 8pm. 17+
