Tonight from 6:30-7:30pm, award-winning author Dave Eggers will be signing books at 826CHI's Boring Store, 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park. 826CHI is one of eight educational nonprofits co-founded by Eggers and educator Ninive Calegari. Eggers' works will be available for purchase inside the Boring Store during this time. This event is free and open to the public.
The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., presents the monthly meeting of Write Club, the literary competition that pits local authors and actors against each other for the amusement of the audience. Show starts at 7pm, admission is $10, and all proceeds go to the charities selected by the participants.
The Green Lady (3328 N. Lincoln Ave.) and Guys Drinking Beer present South of 80: a Celebration of Downstate Bewers tonight at 7pm as part of Chicago Craft Beer Week. Sample 21 beers from 4 Hands Brewing, DESTIHL, Little Egypt Beer, Rolling Meadows Brewery, Triptych Brewing and Urban Chestnut Brewing, and chat with the brewers. 21+
Test your music knowledge along with the folks of CHIRP Radio tonight at 7:30pm at Township, 2200 N. California. Registration $2 per person; you can form teams of up to five. Prizes will be awarded, and The Thons and Queen Buzz will perform after trivia.
Its the one year anniversary of Story Club South Side, and they're hosting the first in a two-part South Side vs. North Side crosstown classic. Andrew Marikis will represent for the South Side, Dana Norris will represent for the North Side, and they'll both pick a team of featured performers and open mic'ers live during the show. Among the featured readers will be Lily Be, Erin Kahoa, Keith Ecker, Jen Bosworth and Johanna Stein. Open mic signup at 7:30pm, stories start at 8pm at Co-Prosperity Sphere (3219 S. Morgan Street.) This is a free event, with a suggested $10 donation.
