Chicago Alternative Comics Expo

Chicago Alternative Comics Expo runs today and Sunday from 11am to 6pm at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St. Attend a full day of panels, check out the vendor floor, and meet indie comic artists and writers galore. Free.

Do-Division Street Fest

Do-Division takes over Division Street from Ashland to Leavitt with music on two stages, shopping and family fun May 30-June 1. The festival runs from noon to 10pm today.

There's also Family Fun Fest, filled with kid-friendly music and activities, running on Hoyne from Crystal to Potomac, and Crystal from Hoyne to Damen, noon to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Maifest

Maifest returns to Lincoln Square May 29-June 1, taking over Lincoln Avenue from Leland to Western next to the Brown Line tracks. The festival runs from noon to 11pm tonight, with live music and plenty of German beer and food. Admission is free.

Kishi Bashi & Busman's Holiday @ Metro

Kishi Bashi will be coming to Metro, 3730 N Clark , in support of his latest album Lighght. His experimental musicianship is unparallelled and a joy to see live. He will be joined by Joyful Noise labelmates Busman's Holiday, whose tender orchestral pop is impossible not to love. Tickets are $16 for this all ages show. Doors open at 7pm

National Tap Day celebration

The Old Town School of Folk Music celebrates National Tap Day 2014 with an evening of tapping, hosted by the school's own Reggio "The Hoofer" McLaughlin. The performance starts at 7:30pm in the Maurer Concert Hall at 4544 North Lincoln Avenue. Patton Oswalt @ Chicago Theatre

Comedian Patton Oswalt performs tonight at 8pm at the Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St. Tickets are $35.50 and up.

The Hudson Branch @ Schubas

The Shit Show @ Collaboraction Theater
