Fiesta Del Sol

Fiesta del Sol, an annual fundraising event organized by the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, runs this weekend from July 31 to Aug. 3 at 1400 W. Cermak Rd. The biggest Latino festival in the Midwest, activities include futbol, Latino art, carnival rides, rollercoasters, and food from dozens of taquerias, hurache vendors, and more. The festival is open from 11am to 11pm today. Free.

Lollapalooza

The epic 3-day fest gets going in Grant Park on Friday and runs through Sunday night. read our Lollapalooza previews in Transmission, and be on the look out for daily set reviews. Tickets are currently sold out.

Chicago French Film Festival

The Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave., hosts the Chicago French Film Festival July 31-Aug. 5. Tonight's screenings include Jappeloupe at 5:15pm, Paulette at 7:45pm, and Eastern Boys at 9:45pm. Tickets are $12 per film, or get a festival pass to five films for $45. (Alliance Français members get $2 off individual tickets.)

Amber Ginsburg & Katie Hargrave @ Roman Susan Gallery

"How to un-make an American Quilt" is an interactive performance between Ginsberg and Hargrave where they will deconstruct a hand-made quilt in the Roman Susan gallery space. The piece begins tonight, August 1st, from 6PM-9PM and will be on view through August 17th. There are several more un-make sessions which include: Sundays--August 3, August 10, August 17 11AM-2PM. Roman Susan is located on 1224 West Loyola Avenue. The sessions are free and open to the public. Participation is welcome!

A Black Harvest Film Festival Opening Night @ Siskel Center

The 20th annual A Black Harvest Film Festival runs Aug. 1-28 at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St. Tonight's opening night festivities include a sneak preview of six of the festival's selections for this year beginning at 6:15pm, followed by a reception in the Joffrey Tower, 10 E. Randolph St. General admission is $25; students are $20 and Siskel Center members are $15. Guests must have a ticket stub to attend the reception.

The Interview Show @ Hideout

The Interview Show is back at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight from 6:30 to 8pm. This month host Mark Bazer welcomes author Rick Perstein, rapper Saba, and chefs Erling Wu-Bower and Cosmo Goss. Admission is $10 in advance or at the door. 21+

Physical Festival @ Links Hall

The inaugural Physical Festival of physical theatre runs July 25-Aug. 2 in Links Hall at Constellation, 3111 N. Western Ave. Tonight's performances are Next Door at 7pm and Circo de Tu Corazón at 9pm; see the schedule for details. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, with festival passes available for $35.

Neon Marshmallow @ Burlington

The Burlington, 3425 W. Fullerton Ave., hosts the Neon Marshmallow music festival July 31-Aug. 3. Tonight's lineup includes Winter Bear, Earring, Mines and Today's Hits. Doors open at 8:30pm, with a Stoli open bar for the first hour. Tickets are $10; festival passes are $30 and include an unreleased Telecult Powers track. Read our preview in Transmission. 21+

Kodaline & Split Single @ Schubas

Kodaline and Split Single do a Lollapalooza aftershow at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., tonight at 11pm. Tickets are $18. 18 and over.
