Chicago Festa Italiana runs Aug. 14-17 on Taylor Street between Ashland and Racine. Enjoy music on three stages, sample (mostly) Italian foods from Little Italy restaurants and vendors, and enjoy the neighborhood festival atmosphere. The fest is open from 5pm to 11pm today. $5 suggested donation.

Summer Music Film Festival @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre and Sound Opinions present their annual Summer Music Film Festival, starting this evening and running through Wednesday, August 20. The lineup includes rock film classics as A Hard Day's Night, Purple Rain, and Stop Making Sense, along with the new 2014 film Got Help The Girl, directed by Stuart Murdoch of the band Belle and Sebastian. James "GPA" Gordon and and Roberta Miles host Cafe Cabaret at Cafe Ballou, 939 N. Western Ave., tonight at 7pm. The eclectic show this month features Alexandra Tsarpalas, Holly Beaudry, Andrew Francis, Elizabeth Gomez and Dhaea. Free, but donations accepted.

Team Roche Benefit @ Empty Bottle

Fight cancer at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., tonight at the Team Roche benefit show, a fundraiser for Sweet Relief in honor of former Bottle staffer Connor Roche. Performing are Diagon Alley, Rat Hammer, the Thons, Seed Sounds, Mr. Ma'am, and the Muzzlers. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 8pm. 21+

Aloft Circus Arts Presents Dinner of Our Discontent @ Chopin Theatre

Circus and theater converge with Aloft's production, Dinner of Our Discontent at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division Street. Directed and conceptualized by Aloft artistic director Shayna Swanson, "Dinner" follows five estranged sisters as they return to the home they grew up in after their parents' sudden deaths. Aloft is a Chicago-based physical performance company dedicated to telling original stories through world-class circus arts. Show runs August 14-24, show times: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and available at Brown Paper Tickets. Patsy Cline cover band the Weepin' Willows headlines, along with drag performances by Ruby Dee and Dixie Lynne Cartwright, burlesque by Ben D.
