Chicago Comic Con

Wizard World's Chicago Comic Con returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd. in Rosemont, Aug. 21-24. Meet artists and celebrities; attend panels on your favorite pop culture, TV and film; watch movies; marvel at the cosplayers and check out the comics. The festival is open from noon to 7pm today. Admission are $50 for today; tickets for autographs, photo ops and VIP experiences are extra. Four-day passes are sold out.

Boulevard Festival

Logan Square comes alive at this three-day street festival of music, food and booze (the Holy Trinity of Chicago summers), which kicks off today at 5:30pm and runs through Sunday night. Dean Ween Group and JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound are among the bands in attendance. Event at 3100 W. Logan; your $5 admission benefits St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Chicago Dancing Festival

The eighth annual Chicago Dancing Festival runs Aug. 20-23 at the Harris Theater, Pritzker Pavilion and Museum of Contemporary Art. Tonight's performance is at the MCA, 220 E. Chicago Ave., at 7:30pm, and includes duets by Adam Barruch and Chelsea Bonosky, Barruch and Pam Tanowitz, soloists from the Joffrey Ballet, members of the Martha Graham Dance Company, and the Nexus Project.. Tickets for both the 6pm and 8pm performances are sold out; see the waitlist procedure here.

A Jangleheart Circus

A Jangleheart Circus (mostly) improv comedy festival runs Aug. 21-23 in the Upstairs Gallery of The Den Theater, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. Shows run on four stages tonight from 7pm to well after midnight. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $25 per night, or $60 for a three-day pass.

Jeff Daniels and Ben Daniels Band @ SPACE

You may recognize Jeff Daniels from his far reaching range as an actor, whether it be in comedies like Dumb and Dumber or more dramatic outings like The Newsroom. His range stretches over to music as well, seeing as how he has been performing his amazing songs across the U.S. for over a decade. He and folk rockers Ben Daniels Band. will be stopping by SPACE, 1245 N. Chicago Ave. in Evanston, to show off their talents. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets range from $25 to $45.

Kulturküche: Make Your Own Crepes @ DANK Haus

Dank Haus (4740 N. Western) will teach you how to make delish crepes with their own Chef Christoph. Class fee $16. Event runs 7:30-9:30pm. Ingredients and a drink are provided.

Bridgepork @ Maria's

Maria's Community Bar, 960 W. 31st St., celebrates the fourth anniversary of its revamping with Bridgepork, a two-day party with beer, barbecue and music tonight and Saturday. From 8pm to 2am, the bar will be featuring Marz Brewery beers on sale, plus a bunch of specials from the vault, along with free Korean-Polish BBQ on the back patio. From 9pm to close, DJ Joe Bryl spins Secret Disco. No cover, 21+

Aloft Circus Arts Presents Dinner of Our Discontent @ Chopin Theatre

Circus and theater converge with Aloft's production, Dinner of Our Discontent at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division Street. Directed and conceptualized by Aloft artistic director Shayna Swanson, "Dinner" follows five estranged sisters as they return to the home they grew up in after their parents' sudden deaths. Aloft is a Chicago-based physical performance company dedicated to telling original stories through world-class circus arts. Show runs August 14-24, show times: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and available at Brown Paper Tickets.
