African Festival of the Arts

The 25th annual African Festival of the Arts runs Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 from 10am to 10pm in Washington Park, 51st and Cottage Grove. Enjoy live music on two stages, browse artisans and food stalls, and visit the pavilions. Tickets are $10 in advance, $20 at the gate daily or $30 for a weekend pass. Family discounts available.

Randolph Street Market

The Randolph Street Market returns to the Plumbers Union Hall, 1350 W. Washington St., Saturday and today from 10am to 5pm. Browse antiques, collectibles, clothing, jewelry, art and vinyl records from dozens of vendors indoors and in the parking lot. Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the door.

Chicago Jazz Festival

The 36th annual Jazz Fest runs Aug. 28-31 in Millennium Park. Today's programming runs from 11:30am to 9:30pm, culminating with the Sun Ra Arkestra at 8:30pm. Free.

Remix Chicago @ Logan Square

Remix Chicago continues today with big plans to celebrate recycled art and crafts and inspire the community to "Remix, Rethink, and Recycle." This two-day event will benefit local school art programs and feature 12 eco-friendly workshops (not to mention live music and food and drinks). Remix Chicago takes place on Milwaukee Avenue between Fullerton and California, from noon to 10pm. $5 suggested donation.

Taste of Polonia

Taste of Polonia runs Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 in Jefferson Park. The Copernicus Center, 5216 W Lawrence Ave., is home base, with four stages featuring more than three dozen live musical acts, Polish food and beer, vendors of all sorts and a kids activity area. The festival is open from noon to 10:30pm today. Tickets are $7; kids under 12 are free.

North Coast Music Festival

The North Coast Music Festival runs Aug. 29-31 in Union Park at Lake Street and Ashland Avenue. Today's lineup includes such acts as Porn and Chicken, Riff Raff, Slightly Stoopid, Dada Life, The Floozies and Snoop Dogg. The festival is open from 1pm to 10pm today. Tickets are $69; three-day passes are sold out.

What's Happening? Block Party @ Longman & Eagle

Longman and Eagle's Block Party today from 1 to 10pm is an experience to behold; incredible music from Windy City Soul Club, kids activities, buttons from Busy Beaver, and great food -- elotes, ceviche, and meatballs! -- for your end of summer fete-ing. Event takes place alongside L&E (2657 N. Kedzie) on Schubert from Kedzie to Troy.

Noir City Film Festival @ Music Box

The 6th annual Noir City Film Festival runs Aug. 29-Sept. 4 at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave. Tonight's screenings include Pépé Le Moko at 2pm, Rififi at 7pm and Two Men in Manhattan at 9pm. Tickets are $12 per film, or $75 for a festival pass.

Chicago Fringe Festival

The Chicago Fringe Festival runs Aug. 28 to Sept. 7 at several venues in Jefferson Park. More than a dozen works of experimental theatre are staged each night. Tickets are $10 per performance, plus $5 for a festival button; Multi-show packs are available for $45 to $175. Performances start at 2:30pm today.

Oddball Comedy Festival

The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival comes to the First Midwest Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland in Tinley Park, today at 5pm. The lineup features Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Chris D'Elia, Chris Hardwick, Hannibal Buress, Jim Jefferies, Michael Che, Ari Shaffir and more. Tickets are $33 and up.
