Eat and pedal with like-minded folks today at Active Transportation Alliance's Four Star Bike and Chow. Pick a route (ranging from 12-62 miles), which will take you all over the city to see neighborhoods and eat their exciting foods. You get a t-shirt and ride support, as well as a post-ride festival. Registration begins at $37. Routes take off 6:30-9:00am from the Circle Memorial Grove on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus (Morgan & Taylor Streets).
The Dill Pickle Food Co-op hosts their first Block Party, at the Comfort Station (2579 N. Milwaukee) today from 11 am-4 pm as part of their expansion effort. Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack to share, or to enjoy locally sourced burgers, veggie burgers, brats, and freshly harvested vegetable. Events and activities are scheduled throughout the day including live music, games, chair massages, and a pie contest. The Block Party is free and open to the public.
The Renegade Craft Fair returns to Division Street from Damen to Paulina Saturday and today from 11am to 6pm. Browse the creations of dozens of artisans and crafters, take crafting workshops and enjoy tasty snacks. Admission is free. Read our preview in A/C.
German American Fest takes over the street in Lincoln Square, on Lincoln Avenue from Western to Leland. Enjoy German music, dancing, beer and food from noon to 10pm today. Admission is free; you'll need beer tickets to drink.
Kegs for Kids, the annual beer-fueled benefit for Pierce Elementary, is today from noon to 5pm at the Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St. Sample more than 60 craft beers, wines and food from area restaurants, and bid on stuff in a silent auction. Tickets are $45 in advance, $55 at the door. 21+

The Chicago Fringe Festival runs Aug. 28 to Sept. 7 at several venues in Jefferson Park. More than a dozen works of experimental theatre are staged each night. Tickets are $10 per performance, plus $5 for a festival button; Multi-show packs are available for $45 to $175. Performances start at 2:30pm today.
