Marz Community Brewing launches tonight at the Co-Prosperity Sphere (3219 S. Morgan, 6-10pm), offering bus tours of Bridgeport, music by Bobby Conn, food by Publican Quality Meats and Honey Butter Fried Chicken, and of course--beer. Free but RSVP required.
The Chicago Nerd Social Club presents their monthly book club, happening as always at Filter Cafe (1373-75 North Milwaukee Avenue). Tonight's book is Andy Weir's The Martian. The event runs from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, and is free and open to the public.
Is This a Thing? live lit show returns to O'Shaughnessy's, 4557 N. Ravenswood Ave., tonight at 7pm. The theme is After School Special, and feature readers include Ali Kelley, Kathy O'Neill, Catharine Savage, Joanne Singleton, Jim Sweeney and Tori Szekeres. No cover.
The collaboration between Half Japanese's Jad Fair and Danielson's Daniel Smith came about due to Fair's position as Artist in Residence at Joyful Noise Recordings. Together they have created a uplifting and rocking pop record that only these two could have made. Joining them at Schubas, 3159 N Southport Ave, will be Kramer on bass and opening the night will be Ligon and Mcdonough of the genre jumping NRBQ. The 8pm show is 21+, tickets are only $13!
Stubhub presents Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue tonight at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., in an all-ages benefit concert for the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. Tickets are $59.50. Doors open at 8pm.
