The Berghoff hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration Sept. 10-12 in Federal Plaza, 50 W. Adams St., from 11am to 9pm each day. Enjoy beer, brats and live music. Admission is free.
Tonight at 6pm, Bottlenotes kicks off Taste Around Around, a two-week long wine event billed as Restaurant Week for wine lovers, at Hub 51, 51 W. Hubbard St. Tickets, which includes wine and house-made bites, are $25 with a special Gapers Block discount code, which can be accessed here. Taste Around Town itself runs September 15-28. Participating restaurants, including Au Cheval, Maude's Liquor Bar, and Carriage House, are preparing select pairing menus and tasting flights with wines from Chateau Montelena, Penfolds, and Wines of France. Specials on wine by the glass or bottle will also be available for lunch and/or dinner throughout the two-week event.
Eugene Sun Park's indie film, Self-Deportation: The Untold Tale of a Marginal Woman, will be shown at 6:30pm today at Columbia College, Hokin Hall, room 109, 623 S. Wabash. The 15-20-minute rough cut film will include a post-show discussion with writer/director Sun Park and other members of the cast and crew.
