Chefs Rick Bayless, Carrie Nahabedian and Bruce Sherman will be at Jayson Home, 1885 N. Clybourn Ave., tonight from 5 to 8pm to sign copies of The Green City Market Cookbook and serve dishes from the book. Complimentary wine will also be served. As a bonus, Jayson Home is donating 10 percent of the night's sales to the Green City Market.
The Chicago South Asian Film Festival runs Sept. 18-21 at the Showplace ICON Theatres, 150 W. Roosevelt Rd. Tonight's opening night includes a red carpet at 6pm, the Chicago premier of Liar's Dice at 7pm followed by a Q&A with star Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and a reception at Gallery Bar, 738 N. Clark St., from 10pm to midnight. Tickets are $35 or $100 for VIP.
The Hoods Chicago, a new reading series centered around neighborhoods, debuts tonight at 8pm at Modern Cooperative, 1215 W. 18th St. Featured readers include Liz Baudler, Charlotte Hamilton, Tony Castellon and Jaime de Leon; Melinda McIntire hosts.
