Luftwerk @ Chicago's Couch Place alley

The collaborative art duo, Luftwerk, will be showcasing a light and water installation titled, "FLOW/Im Fluss" from September 17th until the 20th from 5 PM - 12 AM on State St. between Lake and Randolph Streets. The opening night of FLOW/Im Fluss will be Sept. 17th and will include a complimentary drink ticket for those who RSVP. The location of the installation is 190 North State Street. World Music Festival

Fifth Star Awards @ Millennium Park

Tonight at 7pm in the Pritzker Pavilion, 201 E. Randolph St., the City of Chicago honors Hubbard Street Dance founder Lou Conte, sculptor Richard Hunt; jazz pianist and DJ Ramsey Lewis, Cultural Affairs Commissioner Lois Weisberg and the Auditorium Theatre as recipients of the first Fifth Star Awards for "significant contributions in arts and culture." Free.

Diplomats of Drum, Hawaiian Music Masters @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music has a great-looking concert this evening at 8:00pm, as part of their World Music Wednesday series of concerts. On the bill: the Malaysian band Diplomats of Drum; and The Masters of Hawaiian Music: Ledward Kaapana, George Kahumoku Jr, & "Uncle" Richard Ho'opi'i. The concert happens in the school's main auditorium at 4544 North Lincoln Avenue, and admission is free! Tobacco, The Stragazer Lilies, Oscillator Bug @ Lincoln Hall

Tobacco will be gracing Chicago with his synth crusted haze. His songs are pop music rammed through a filter of utter insanity, result in some of the most interesting and complex psychedelic electronic music. Joining him will be a little shoegaze from The Stargazer Lilies and Chicago's Oscillator Bug with some really impressive synth pop. Chirp welcomes these band to Lincoln Hal, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. This 21+ show starts at 9pm, tickets are $15.
