Irene Hofmann Visiting Artist @ SAIC

Irene Hofmann (MFA 1994) is giving a talk and lecture at Columbus Auditorium located at 280 S. Columbus Dr. for the SAIC Visiting Artists Program. Write Club @ Hideout

The Hideout welcomes back Write Club, the literary sporting event that pits local authors and playwrights against each other in battles for charity. Overlord Ian Belknap presides over three matches this evening, each one being decided by a panel of seasoned judges who are only slightly influenced by audience opinion. The show starts at 7:00pm, and admission is $10, with all proceeds going to the charities of the winning parties. Hideout: 1354 W. Wabansia. (773) 227-4433.

Pundamonium Pun Slam @ Door No. 3

Pundamonium, Chicago's pun slam contest, is at Door No. 3 at Bottom Lounge, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight. Ten contestants battle with puns on prompts they received beforehand, then those who advance must riff on whatever's thrown at them. $8 cover. Doors are at 7pm, show's at 8pm. 21+ You have no idea how hard it was not to make puns throughout this listing.

Story Club South Side @ Co-Prosperity Sphere

Story Club South Side returns to the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., tonight at 7:30pm. The theme is "Tripping: Tales of Journeys Real or Imagined," and the featured speakers are Jeff Clement, Stephanie Chavara and Joy Ellison -- with a couple of spots available for open mic. $10 donation requested.

Windy City Rollers Black & Blue Gala

The Windy City Rollers host their first annual Black and Blue Gala tonight at 7:30pm at the Crown Plaza Metro Hotel, 733 W. Madison St. The $40 ticket includes dinner, complimentary Revolution beer, and live performances by Haymarket Riot and Rory Lake. There'll also be a raffle and silent auction. Special rates on hotel rooms are also available.
