Kitchen Space, the alternative art space located in Logan Square, is hosting a closing reception for Karolina Gnatowski's show "Soul Kitchen". Starting at 9am today and ending at noon, Kitchen Space invites viewers for morning beers, fantastic fiber art and a silent wind chime. Kitchen Space is located at 2716 N. Monticello Ave., #1F. Free.

Join Preservation Chicago and Landmarks Illinois on a walking tour of the Central Manufacturing District from 1pm-3pm this afternoon. The Central Manufacturing District was founded in 1902 by F. H. Prince and A.G. Leonard, making it one of the -- if not the first -- full service industrial real estate developments in the United States. It remained in operation as late as the 1980s. Story Club hosts Top Hats & Tales, a benefit for its new Story Club Magazine, today from 1 to 5pm at the Green Mill, 4801 N. Broadway. Nik Wallenda will walk a tightrope from the west tower of Marina City, 300 N. State St., to the Leo Burnett Building, over the Chicago River, at 6pm tonight. He'll then walk a tightrope between the two Marina City towers while blindfolded. Watch it in person, online or on Discovery Channel.
