Weather Warlock @ Reckless Records

The former Chicagoan Mr. Quintron, inventor of the analog drum machine The Drum Buddy, has an exciting new electronic project: the Weather Warlock, a synth that plays different tones depending on the current weather conditions. This device is currently broadcasting at Weather for the Blind, but makes a rare live appearance tonight at Reckless Records at 1532 N. Milwaukee to broadcast its "sunset ritual," accompanied by other guest musicians TBA. Sunset is scheduled to happen at 4:32pm today, but you better show up early to make sure you get a spot to watch.

Gluten-Free Beer Event @ Compass Bar

Barley's Angels in Chicago, hosts a gluten-free beer event tonight at Compass Bar (433 W. Diversey) featuring beers from Glutenberg and gluten-free snacks. Simon Leblanc from Glutenberg will walk guests through the tasting and will speak on the differences in gluten-free beer. Tickets are $25. The event is from 6 to 8pm. 21+

Ta-Nehisi Coates @ DuSable Museum

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates talks about his article, "The Case for Reparations" at the DuSable Museum of African American History, 740 E. 63rd Pl., tonight at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 are sold out.

The Fall of the American Movie Palace @ Portage Theater

The Theatre Historical Society of America presents architecture photographer Matt Lambros lecturing on the Fall of the American Movie Palace tonight at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Doors open at 6:30pm. Free.

BEEF @ Hungry Brain

You, Me, Them, Everybody presents BEEF, a new comedy game show, tonight at 8:30pm at the Hungry Brain, 2319 W. Belmont Ave. The show pits comedians against each other in a series of games, the rules of which they don't know ahead of time. No cover, 21+

Peelander-Z @ Reggies

Japanese "action comic punk band" Peelander-Z bring their zany show to Reggies, 2105 S. State St., tonight, with the Sueves and Nonnie Parry opening. Doors are at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. 21+

Ty Dolla $ign @ Bottom Lounge

Ty Dolla $ign headlines Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight, with Lil Bibby, Alex Wiley and Mic Terror opening. See Justin Freeman's preview of Lil Bibby in Transmission. Doors open at 8pm, show's at 9pm. Tickets are $20. 17+

GRAVY @ Berlin

GRAVY is a benefit dance party starting tonight at 10pm and going until 4am every second Thursday at Berlin, 954 W. Belmont Ave. GRAVY will feature a great list of DJs as well as special performances throughout the night. RSVP for a reduced cover till 11pm. This month all proceeds go to West Town Bikes, which promotes biking in Chicago.
