The School of the Art Institute's 26th annual Holiday Art Sale runs Nov. 20-22 in the SAIC Ballroom, 112 S. Michigan Ave. Shop for art of all media created by more than 120 students. The show's open from 11am to 7pm today. Admission is free.
The inaugural Chicago Italian Film Festival runs Nov. 21-27 at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave. The theme is "Italian Comedy: Then & Now." Tonight's films are Divorce Italian Style (Divorzio all’italiana) at 6pm and I Can Quit Whenever I Want (Smetto quando voglio) at 8:15pm. Individual tickets are $10, or $8 for members of the Italian Cultural Institute Chicago. See five films for $40.
Chicago punk elder statesmen Screeching Weasel play Concord Music Hall, 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave., tonight, with Dwarves, the Queers and Flatfoot in support. Tickets are $25. Doors open at 6pm. All ages.
Mana Contemporary located at 2233 S. Throop St., 4th floor, will be hosting an opening reception tonight from 6-10pm, featuring work by artists Nicholas Rigger and Steve Ruiz.
Everything's going underwater at tonight's installment of the Chicago Food Festival at Kendall College (900 N. North Branch). Enjoy a bevy of fish (squid, sea urchin, crab, oysters, sushi) while watching a series of short films about where your dinner came from (such as "Squid" and "Sweet, Sexy Ocean). Doors open 6:30pm (6pm for VIPs); tickets $75-95.
The Old Town School of Folk Music hosts their monthly "Social," an evening of music and teaching. Tonight's programs: 80s songs to sing and play at 7:00pm; and music & lyrics of the Indigo Girls at 7:30pm. Suzanne Vega does two shows tonight at SPACE, 1275 Chicago Ave. in Evanston, at 7pm and 9:30pm. Tables are all sold out, but standing-room-only tickets are still available for $25. 21+ UPDATE: Both shows are now sold out.
The Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St., hosts Got Glögg?, a glögg tasting and competition to see who makes the best of the traditional mulled drink, tonight from 7 to 9pm. Admission is $15. 21+
Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr shows are characterized by their hooky indie-pop and lots of fun. The Detroit duo gets the crowded involved and pulls off good cover songs. Their latest single, "James Dean," is a little lighter than much of their previous work, but still everything you'd hear in their sound. Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr headlines Metro, 3630 N. Clark St., tonight. The show opens at 9pm with Mini Mansions. It's 18+, $16 in advance, $18 at the doors.
SoCal punk rockers Lagwagon roll into Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight with the Swingin' Utters and This Legend in tow. Doors are at 8pm, show's at 9pm. Tickets are $23. 17+
