The 14th annual One of a Kind Show fills the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, with more than 600 artists, jewelers, crafters, furniture makers, indie clothiers, chefs and more. The show runs Dec. 4-7, and is open from 11am to 8pm today. Admission is $12; get two-for-one tickets online with the code 2TIX.
The Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave., presents a large selection of paintings, pottery, prints, photographs and much more in their holiday sale today from noon to 5pm. The artworks are made from Oakman-Clinton School & Studio artists. Admission is free.
The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative hosts its 25th annual International Small Print Show and Holiday Sale Dec. 5-7. See and purchase prints by over 60 artists. The show is open from noon to 5pm today.
This afternoon, from 4:3 to 7pm, the Sullivan Galleries will be hosting an opening reception for their new exhibition, Media Futures. The exhibition will focus on the intersection between fine art and media. The Sullivan Galleries are located at 33 S. State St., 7th floor; the show will run until Feb. 14. The opening reception is free and open to the public.
Mark Bazer hosts his monthly Interview Show tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. This month's guests include Food Network host Jeff Mauro, author Jonathan Eig, director Kimberly Senior and musician David Nagler of Nova Social. Doors open at 6pm, show's at 6:30pm. The Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., presents the latest film from Japan's legendary animation house Studio Ghibli, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, which will be running at the theater for the entire month of December. The neighborhood of Andersonville kicks off its holiday events tonight with Late Night Andersonville. From 6 to 10pm, more than 40 stores and restaurants will be open and offering discounts and specials (PDF).
Michelle L'Amour stars in the All I Want for Christmas Holiday Burlesque Spectacular, hosted by Victoria DeVille and the World Famous Chicago Starlets tonight at the Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave. There are two shows, at 8pm (doors at 7) and 10pm (doors at 9). Tickets to each are $23.
The Chicago Writers Conference presents The Dissolve's Entirely Film-Focused Holiday Gift Guide tonight at 7pm at 826CHI, 1276 N. Milwaukee Ave. The Dissolve's film critics provide advice about this year's new and vintage film releases on DVD and Blu-Ray, and offer other film-related gift suggestions. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
The Film Studies Center, 5811 S. Ellis Ave., screens the Italian film The Last Ones this evening at 7pm. The event will follow with a discussion led by archivist Luca Giuliani. The 92-minute film, made in 1963, displays Italy's tension between traditional life and progression.
Tonight from 8pm until midnight, the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., hosts Krampusnact, which features artwork, treats and an all-around Krampus theme. Wear your favorite Krampus costume, or simply attend the event. $10 admission includes drink ticket, $5 with Krampus related costume (includes drink ticket). Must be 21 to enter.
The Neo-Futurists present the best of the plays they wrote in 2014 for their flagship show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind.
