One of a Kind Show @ Merchandise Mart

The 14th annual One of a Kind Show fills the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, with more than 600 artists, jewelers, crafters, furniture makers, indie clothiers, chefs and more. The show runs Dec. 4-7, and is open from 10am to 7pm today. Admission is $12; get two-for-one tickets online with the code 2TIX.

Chicago Book Expo @ Columbia College

Buy books, listen to authors converse at the Chicago Book Expo today from 11am to 5pm at Columbia College, 1104 S. Wabash Ave. The free event will have 75+ exhibitors selling books, including local presses, authors and literary organizations, and 17 sessions featuring more than 40 Chicago authors and other literary events are on the schedule.

Renegade Craft Fair @ Bridgeport Art Center

The Renegade Craft Fair & Holiday Art Sale returns this year today and tomorrow at the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St. Hours are 11am to 6pm both days.
You can preview this year's lineup of 200+ artists and artisans. The fair also features free workshops plus music, coffee, hot chocolate bar, food and sweets, and beer and wine. BAC's artists and designers open their studios to visitors. Admission is free. More details here.

International Small Print Show

The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative hosts its 25th annual International Small Print Show and Holiday Sale Dec. 5-7. See and purchase prints by over 60 artists. The show is open from 11am to 7pm today.

Afraid of Dark @ Cultural Center

ImageNation Cinema Foundation and the Illinois Humanities Council will co-present Chicago premier of Afraid of Dark, a film exploring the historical context and present implications of the most prevalent black male stereotype, today at 1pm at the Chicago Cultural Center’s Claudia Cassidy Theater, 78 E. Washington St. A panel discussion featuring director Mya B., Vocalo's "Barbershop Show" host Richard Steele and NEIU Professor Sunni Ali follows the screening. Free; RSVP online.

Sistah Sinema Chicago Film Screening: Thick Relations @ Gallery 400

Today from 2pm-4pm, Gallery 400 will be teaming up with the UIC Gender and Sexuality Center and the organization Sistah Sinema to launch a monthly event which features queer women of color. The December film is titled, "Thick Relations" and will follow with a discussion expanding on the topics presented in the film and elsewhere. Admission is $10 for the general public and free for those with a UIC card. Snack and beverages will be provided. Gallery 400 is located on 400 S. Peoria St.

Type Sets Lecture by Claire Keys @ A + D Gallery

Claire Keys, a writer originally from the Midwest, visits Columbia College's A + D Gallery, 619 S. Wabash Ave., to discuss typography and text in conjunction with their current exhibition, TYPES, today at 2pm. Free.

He Qi Opening Reception and Artist Talk

The Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Elmdale Ave., holds an opening reception for the artist He Qi today from 2 to 6pm. Make sure to attend the gallery talk at 3pm and a "meet the artist" session at 4:30pm.

Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Inductions @ Roosevelt University

Six Chicago literary figures will be inducted into the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame tonight from 7 to 9pm. The event is at Roosevelt University's Ganz Hall, 430 S. Michigan Ave. The event is free but registration is requested. Details on the Book Club page.

Nick Lowe @ Old Town School

Nick Lowe fronts Los Straightjackets for his Quality Holiday Revue at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight and Sunday. Doors open at 8pm; tickets are $40.

Gapers Block Holiday Concert @ Metro

Join us for the Gapers Block Holiday Concert tonight at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St.!
