Curator Talk: Matt Morris @ Western Exhibitions

Western Exhibitions is hosting a guided tour of the recent exhibition "Effeminaries" with curator Matt Morris today at 12:30PM. The tour is free and open to the public. Western Exhibitions is located at 845 W. Washington.

Ensor in Context Lecture @ The Art Institute of Chicago

Today at 2pm in Fullerton Hall, the AIC will be hosting a lecture about James Ensor's art and Les XX, an avant-garde group whom he was in affiliation with during his lifetime. This lecture is open to the public. The AIC is located at 111 S. Michigan Avenue.

Fillet of Solo Festival

Lifeline Theatre's 18th annual Fillet of Solo Festival of solo performances and storytelling runs Jan. 9-25. Performances are held at the Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., and the Heartland Studio Theatre, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave. Tickets are $10 per show or $50 for a festival pass, and are available online or at the Lifeline box office.

House of Wax in 3D @ Siskel Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., kicks off a month-long showcase of classic 3D films this afternoon with a 4:45pm screening of the 1953 Vincent Price classic House of Wax. Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival

The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival runs Jan. 8-18 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The schedule tonight includes 28 shows on four stages, running at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11pm. Tickets are $15 per show, or $150 for a festival pass.

Stephanie Serpick and Christopher Ottinger @ Bert Green Fine Art

This evening at Bert Green Fine Art, the works of Stephanie Serpick and Christopher Ottinger will be featured in an opening reception event. In addition to the opening reception, at the closing reception on February 28th at 4pm, Ottinger will be having an Artist's Talk. Bert Green Fine Art is located at 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 620.

Jukebox the Ghost @ The Metro

Washington DC based indie pop trio Jukebox the Ghost is hitting the Metro, 3730 N. Clark Street, for the fourth night of the 2015 TNK fest. Secret Someones and Twin Forks open. Show starts at 7:00pm, tickets are $19.

The Peasant and the Priest @ The Film Studies Center

The Film Studies Center at the University of Chicago, 5811 S. Ellis Ave., Cobb Hall 306, is kicking off their new series for the quarter with a free screening of The Peasant and the Priest (2010, 47min, DVD), with director Esther Podemski present for a Q&A session after the film. The screening begins at 7pm, but arrive early as seating is first come-first serve.

Strand of Oaks @ Lincoln Hall

Strand of Oaks (the moniker of Indiana born rock musician Timothy Showalter) hits Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight for the fourth night of the 2015 TNK festival. Adia Victoria and Kevin Morby open. Show starts at 9:00pm tickets are $15.

Soul Summit @ Double Door
