Today the Art Institute will open the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries where the book bindings of Mary Louise Reynolds, an American influence to the Parisian Surrealist movement, will be on exhibition until March 23rd.
Tonight, from 5 p.m.-10 p.m., Longman & Eagle (2657 N. Kedzie Ave.) is hosting an open house in celebration of their five-year anniversary. They're offering complimentary servings of house favorites, including 'baby' Steigls, Negroni di Aquila cocktails, and wild boar sliders. Dinner menus won't be available, but the bar and snack menus will be throughout the evening.
Anthology of Chicago and 1,001 Afternoons present Welcome to the Neighborhood, a reading of stories and poetry set in Chicago neighborhoods, accompanied by illustrations by local artists, tonight at 6pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave. Free with museum admission -- which is also free on Tuesdays if you've got an Illinois ID.
The Hideout presents the monthly meeting of minds known as Write Club. A group of Chicago writers and performers go head-to-head, each taking up a contrary position for the amusement of the audience. A group of judges determine the winner in each bout, with the winner getting a donation to his or her selected charity. The show starts at 7:00pm, and tickets are $10 at the door. Hideout: 1354 W.
