Soup & Bread @ the Hideout
Soup & Bread, the weekly wintertime soup-eating party benefiting a local food-related charity, is tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Volunteer cooks make the soup; you show up between 5:30 and 8pm to eat, enjoy and kick in a few bucks for the cause. Kids welcome with parents.

Palabra Pura: One Poet / One Poem @ La Bruquena
The Guild Literary Complex kicks off the 10th season of its Palabra Pura reading series tonight at 7:30pm at La Bruquena, 2626 W. Division St. The theme is "One Poet / One Poem," and features readings by Eduardo Arocho, Emmanuel Ayala, Beatriz Badikian, Alex Bonner, Marta Collazo, Jan Peña Davis, Raúl Dorantes, Rafael Franco-Steeves, Stephanie Gentry-Fernández, Juana Goergen, Nora León, Mark Litwicki, Miguel López Lemus, Olivia Maciel, Elizabeth Marino, Miguel Marzana, Yolanda Nieves, Coya Paz, Mike Puican, Martha Cecilia Rivera, Luis Tubens, Febronio Zatarain and more. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
