The Hyde Park Handmade Artisan Bazaar & Farmer's Market runs from 11am to 4pm at the Promontory, 5311 S. Lake Park Ave. West. Shop for crafts and foodstuff and stick around for brunch or lunch.
Today, from 1-4PM, Mana Contemporary is hosting an opening house at 2233 S. Throop St. During the open house, High Concept Labs will adjunctly invite visitors to learn from THE ERA, a footwork dance crew. The event is free and located on the 4th floor.
The Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Rd., hosts a free screening of the documentary Finding Vivian Maier tonight at 6pm.
Serving the Sentence returns to the Towbar, 1500 W. Jarvis Ave., tonight at 7pm. Readers David Lipowski, Sara Weidemann, Aimee Perkins, Tori Szekeres, Roberta Miles, Eric Ruelle and Maggie Jenkins will all start their stories with the sentence, "April may be the cruelest month, but February is the bitchiest." Kendra Stevens hosts. Free, but donations will be collected for the Adam Yauch Foundation.
Indie movie theater The Nightingale,1084 N. Milwaukee Ave., hosts THROUGH THE PRISM, a night of films by the artist Hannah Piper Burns, tonight beginning at 7pm. Burns' work has been described as, "fun, funny, feminist, physical, 'found footage.'" $7-10 donation requested at the door.
The live lit series That's All She Wrote is back at Great Lakes Tattoo, 1148 W. Grand Ave. This month's lineup includes Kevin Gladish, Sheri Reda, Claire Zulkey, and Sarah Hollenbeck. Hosted by J.H. Palmer and Angela Benander. Doors open at 7:30, stories begin at 8pm. Free and BYOB. Check out their new chairs.
