The 15th annual Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Chicago happens today at North Avenue Beach, 1600 N. Lake Shore Dr. from 10am to 2pm. A donation of $175 gets you a very chilly bit of participation, but it's free to just watch.
The Rest In Peace March, a #BlackLivesMatter procession in protest of deaths of black people at the hands of police, starts at the Western Avenue entrance to Rosehill Cemetery, 5601 N. Western Ave., 11:30am and heads to the police station at 5400 N. Lincoln Ave. to deliver prayers for peace. Marchers are asked to dress in black; flowers and peace signs are encouraged. The Estonian band Ewert and the Two Dragons will be making a stop at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave. The indie folk band's lovely songs hold a surprising epic feeling that is a marvel to behold. This 18+ show starts at 8pm and tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
