Wizard World Fan Fest comes to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd. in Rosemont, today and Sunday. Meet celebrities including Norman Reedus from "The Walking Dead," Karen Gillan from "Doctor Who," Kathy Najimy from "King of the Hill," Taryn Manning from "Orange Is the New Black," David Faustino from "Married With Children" and more. The show is open from 10am to 7pm today. Tickets are $15 per day or $25 for both days (autographs and photo opps extra); two-day VIP admisson is $99.
Writer and food historian Cynthia Clampitt talks about the evolution of corn and its role in modern eating today at Kendall College, 900 North Branch, 10am. She will also stick around to sign copies of her newest book, Midwest Maize. How Corn Shaped the U.S. Heartland. Cost $3 (free to Kendall students and faculty with ID). The 10th annual Chiditarod, the crazy shopping cart race that raises money and food donations for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, kicks off from the corner of Wolcott and Hubbard today at 12:30pm. Find a spot to watch and cheer on your favorite team!
The third annual Windy City Brewhaha fills Lacuna Artist Lofts, 2150 S. Canalport Ave., with two dozen craft brewers as well as a couple distilleries. Sample their wares during one of two sessions, at 1 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm. Tickets are $45 or $20 if you're a designated driver.
The first ever Snowstorm Winter Music & Arts Festival is at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., tonight from 6pm to 1am, showcasing the finest in EDM. The musical lineup includes Moby, RJD2, Trippy Turtle, The Hood Internet, ASTR, Zimmer, Orchard Lounge, Louis the Child, Figgy, Win + Woo and Kody Madro. Other festivities include a white party (dress in all white for that) and spectacles by Redmoon. Tickets are $45 or $100 for VIP. 18+
The University of Chicago presents a screening of Intolerance, DW Griffith's 1916 film about intolerance through the ages, tonight at 7pm in the Performance Hall at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St. Tickets are free but required; doors open at 6:30pm.
Tweedy, the father son duo of Jeff and Spencer Tweedy, make there way to the Vic, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., for two back to back shows. On the second night they will be joined by The Minus 5. Doors open at 7pm for this 18+ show. Tickets are $44.
The Apollo Chorus will perform Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna and Schubert's Mass in A-flat in partnership with Renovo String Orchestra at 7:30 tonight at the U of C Rockefeller Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave. Music director Dr. Stephen Alltop will give a pre-concert talk at 6:45pm. Tickets are $30 and $10 for students.
