The City Club of Chicago will have Secretary of State Jesse White speak at Maggiano's, 111 W. Grand Ave., today at 11:30am. Seating is limited. $35 for City Club members and $45 for non-members.
Instant Histories: New Documentary Forms In The Digital Age is held by the Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N. State St.) and offers a new documentary every Tuesday until May 5. Today, The Missing Picture, about a childhood survivor of the Cambodian killing fields revisiting the time of terror that killed his family, will be shown at 6pm. Tickets are $5 for members and $11 for non-members and include a lecture by Daniel Eisenberg, an international renowned filmmaker. Additional screenings of the film are on Friday and Saturday, but do not include Eisenberg's lecture.
California indie rock quartet The Colourist are playing a sold out show at the Metro with Echosmith on the 12th but if you didn't snag your ticket have no fear! They've added a headlining show at Lincoln Hall tonight for those of us who didn't move fast enough. Show starts at 7:00pm at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave, tickets are $12.
The members of the amazing Chicago band Joan of Arc will have a month long residency at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Every Tuesday evening in March you will get a chance to see the band and a few guests including some DJs, short films by Todd Mattei, and readings presented by Featherproof Books. The second night of this residency will feature Owen performing Dinosaur Jr. songs and Jeremy Boyle opening the night. These 21+ shows start at 9pm. Tickets are $10 or you can go to all five for $40.
