Soup & Bread, the weekly wintertime soup-eating party benefiting a local food-related charity, is tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Volunteer cooks make the soup; you show up between 5:30 and 8pm to eat, enjoy and kick in a few bucks for the cause. Kids welcome with parents.
Tonight "Bonfires and Effigies: The Contested Territories of Belfast, Northern Ireland" opens at Art Works Projects, 625 N. Kingsbury St. The free opening runs from 6:25 to 9pm, with a conversation between sociologist and photographer David Schalliol and playwright Terry Boyle taking place from 6:45 to 7:30pm.
Louisville's White Reaper returns to Chicago with their noisy garage punk sound. They'll be joined by locals Hollow Mountain and Fitness. The show's 17+, $10 and starts at 9PM. The Beat Kitchen's at 2100 W Belmont.
