Zagreb, Croatia has been an important location for animation, experimental film, and the avant-garde. SAIC's Conversations at the Edge will be presenting the work of filmmaker Alexander Stewart who produced works in Croatia from the 1960s through today. The event will take place tonight at 6pm at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., and is free and open to the public.
The Guild Literary Complex presents Voices of Protest: Home Edition tonight from 7 to 9pm at 826CHI, 1276 N. Milwaukee Ave. Adam Gottlieb, L’Oréal Patrice Jackson, Sahar Mustafah, Erika L. Sánchez, and M. Quinn Stifler will read creative pieces inspired by their September 2014 trip to the Kapittel International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Speech in Stavanger, Norway. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
The Pentagon Theater in The Flat Iron Arts Building presents Faces of Eurydice, a performance piece by the CUBE Ensemble. Dance, opera and theater will be retelling the myth of Orpheus with choreographic work by Hope Goldman and music by Hope Littwin. Faces of Eurydice will premiere from March 12 at 7:30PM until March 21 at 9:30PM. Resale Tickets are $25 admission; $10 industry/student; Regular Tickets are $35 admission; $15 industry/student. The Flat Iron Arts Building is located at 1575 N Milwaukee Ave.
Brazilian Girls will be coming to Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport, ready to let their eclectic electronic dance music run wild. Doors open at 7:30pm for this 17+ show. Tickets are $30 for balcony seats, $20 for GA floor.
