CHIRP Record Fair

The 13th annual CHIRP Record Fair & Other Delights runs from 10am to 6pm today -- or opens at 8am if you buy the $25 VIP admission -- at the Plumbers Hall, 1370 W. Washington St. Besides the opportunity to crate-dig for vinyl, CDs, tapes and other music memorabiliia from dozens of vendors, this year's "other delights" include a Chic-a-Go-Go dance party, a special First Time performance, the CHIRP Music Quiz, guest DJs, signings, art installations, and more. General admission is $7 in advance.

Schubas Gear Swap

Schubas, 3159 N. Clark St., hosts its periodical Gear Swap today from 11am to 4pm. Bring your used musical equipment and trade it for something different. The event is free and all ages, and coincides with a Revolution Brewing tap takeover in the bar (which is 21+).

Handmade Market @ Empty Bottle

Handmade Market is back at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., today from noon to 4pm. A full list of crafters selling items at this event can be found at the Handmade site. Free admission; 21+ except for kids with their parents.

Transit-Oriented Development Bike Tour

Streetsblog Chicago leads a bike tour of 10 transit-oriented developments throughout the city today as a fundraiser to bring the site back to full time. The tour meets at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St., at 1pm and runs till 4pm. At each stop, representatives from the development or architecture firm will give a short presentation about the project. Tickets are $20. RSVP on Facebook.

SIGHT & SOUND Digital Media Youth Festival

Today from 1 to 5pm, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy, 28 N. Clark St., Ste. 500, hosts the SIGHT & SOUND Digital Media Youth Festival, a short film contest for teens from area high schools. See what the kids put together with the theme "Your Best or Worst Day In High School." Tickets are free.

Chatter: Architecture Talks Back Discussion @ The Art Institute

This afternoon the Art Institute's new exhibition "Chatter: Architecture Talks Back," which looks at "the diverse contemporary methods and approaches wielded by five emerging architects," opens with a conversation among contributors Jimenez Lai of Bureau Spectacular, John Szot of John Szot Studio, and Chris Grimley of over,under, among others. Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 31st annual Chicago Latino Film Festival runs April 9-23 at the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St. Today's lineup includes 15 films, beginning at 3pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets are $12 per film, $10 for members of the Illinois Latino Cultural Center. Film passports, good for 12 admissions, are $110.

Show You Suck @ Double Door

Show You Suck headlines a Riot Fest showcase the Double Door, 1551 N. Damen Ave., tonight, with Gut Rot and 100 Trill opening. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. 21+

The Best of: A Student Showcase

Paola Coletto presents an evening of: Storytelling, Melodrama, Tragedy, Bouffon, Grotesque character & Clowning featuring her second year students (from 5 nations) at the School for Theater Creators this coming Saturday at MSA & Circus Arts at 1934 N. Campbell Avenue. The will be a Q&A session with the students and faculty about The School and its new nine month program which will start in September 2015. Song of the Jasmine @ MCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave., presents Song of the Jasmine, a South Asian dance performance by Rudresh Mahanthappa and the Ragamala Dance Company, April 10-12. Caribou @ Metro

Dan Snaith - known better by his stage name Caribou - dropped his latest album Can't Do Without You to much acclaim back in October. Metro hosts him tonight at 9pm with Egyptrixx opening. Show is sold out, Metro is located at 3730 N Clark St.
