Chicago Arts District 2nd Friday

2nd Fridays Gallery Night is a monthly showcase of 30+ creative spaces in the Chicago Arts District (formerly known as Pilsen East). You'll find all manner of art and artists, as well as explore the gorgeous architecture and courtyards on Halsted St., between 16th St. and Cermak Rd. Plan your stroll by picking up a map at the info center at 1821 S. Halsted St., or check out the event calendar. 6pm-10pm.

For the Love of Toys @ Galerie F

Urban Vinyl Daily and Galerie F, 2381 N. Milwaukee Ave., celebrates the opening of the exhibition For the Love of Toys with a reception tonight from 6 to 10pm. Check out custom vinyl figures, hob nob with the artists and enjoy Revolution beer.

Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 31st annual Chicago Latino Film Festival runs April 9-23 at the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St. Today's lineup includes 10 films, beginning at 6pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets are $12 per film, $10 for members of the Illinois Latino Cultural Center. Film passports, good for 12 admissions, are $110.

Satire + Songs by Joe Hill @ Uri-Eichen Gallery

Paul Durica will moderate a conversation with cartoonist Gary Huck, lawyer Jerry Boyle, and journalist Rick Perlstein on the use of satire in political expression. The 45-minute conversation will be followed by music by Mark Dvorak, playing songs by IWW balladeer Joe Hill. The program marks the centennial of Hill's execution on November 19 and subsequent funeral in Chicago. The event is free. Uri-Eichen Gallery is at 2101 S. Halsted.

#chicagoGirl @ Wilmette Theatre

The documentary #chicagoGirl screens at the Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave. in Wilmette, tonight at 7:30pm as part of the Family of Woman Film Festival. The film's subject, Syrian student activist Alaa Basatneh, will participate in a Q&A following the film. Tickets are $25.

Song of the Jasmine @ MCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave., presents Song of the Jasmine, a South Asian dance performance by Rudresh Mahanthappa and the Ragamala Dance Company, April 10-12. Tonight's performance is at 7:30pm. Tickets are $22 for MCA members, $28 for non-members, $10 for students with ID, and are available online, at the box office or by calling 312-397-4010.

Dr. Dog @ Thalia Hall

Thalia Hall welcomes PA psych rock band Dr. Dog tonight at 8pm touring in promotion of their first live album Live at a Flamingo Hotel released this past January. Mewithoutyou opens. Show is sold out, Thalia Hall is located at 1807 S Allport St.

The Interview Show @ Hideout

Mark Bazer's The Interview Show tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., this month features Director of Institute of Politics at University of Chicago David Axelrod, sports reporter Sarah Spain, Craig "Wheezy Waiter" Benzine and rapper Mick Jenkins.
