2015 SAIC Runway Fashion Show @ Millennium Park Chase Promenade

SAIC is hosting their annual runway fashion show today at the Millennium Park Chase Promenade, located at 201 E. Randolph St. THE WALK begins at 5:30; tickets can be purchased online.


Show of Hands

Indie craft market Show of Hands holds its first spring show this weekend, May 8-10 at Architectural Artifacts, 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave. The show features more than 70 vendors offering handmade paper goods, ceramics, jewelry, clothing, decorative products and more. Tonight is a special sneak preview from 5 to 9pm: for $10 admission, two people get an early opportunity to shop, as well as sample complimentary craft beer from Begyle.

Chicago Zine Fest

The Chicago Zine Festival kicks off today at 5pm at Access Living, 115 W. Chicago Ave., with a panel discussion which focuses on zines and independent publishing. Readings continue throughout the evening and at 7pm, the annual youth reading will be presented as well as a reading by festival exhibitors at 8pm. Free and open to the public.


Opening Reception: "Can I See Your ID?" @ Cultura

amfm, a creative hub for local artists will be presenting, "Can I See Your ID?", an exhibition centered on identity this evening at the 2nd Friday Pilsen Art Walk from 6-9PM. The event will be held at Cultura, located at 1900 S. Carpenter Street in Pilsen.

Test/Move/Play Ability Opening Reception @ Arts + Public Life

Arts + Public Life and the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture are featuring resident artist, Alberto Aguilar, and his culminating exhibition. The exhibition will take place at several locations which include: Logan Center, Harold Washington College, Arts Incubator, Arts Club of Chicago and 4th Ward Project Space. The opening reception will be tonight from 6-9PM at 301 East Garfield Blvd.

Puddles Pity Party @ Mayne Stage

Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., hosts Puddles Pity Party, featuring Puddles the clown singing his sad songs for all who care to listen. There are two shows tonight, at 7pm and 9pm. The 9pm show is sold out, but tickets for 7pm are $33. Box office: 773-381-4554.

Welcome to Me w/Q&A @ Music Box

Kristen Wiig's new film Welcome to Me opens tonight at 7pm at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave., and director Shira Piven will be on hand to introduce the film and do a Q&A afterward. Tickets are $15.

Brian Babylon @ Laugh Factory

Comedian and Vocolo "The Morning AMP" host Brian Babylon records a live comedy album tonight at the Laugh Factory, 3175 N. Broadway. The Puterbaugh Sisters and Kristen Toomey open. There are two shows, at 8pm and 10pm. Tickets for each are $17 in advance, $20 at the door, plus a two-drink minimum. Doors open an hour before the show. 18+

You Are Here Festival

The You Are Here Festival, aka The Maze, makes its Chicago debut at Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport St., May 7-24. The festival takes place inside a maze, immersing attendees in the experience that includes light shows, art installations, audio experiments and live performances. Tonight's performers include Chris Crack and New Deal Crew, Mic Terror, Palace Sound and DJ Phil. The fest runs from 9pm to midnight. Tickets are $10. 21+
