Show of Hands

Indie craft market Show of Hands holds its first spring show this weekend, May 8-10 at Architectural Artifacts, 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave. The show features more than 70 vendors offering handmade paper goods, ceramics, jewelry, clothing, decorative products and more. It's open from 10am to 5pm today.

2015 Chicago 7 Bus Tour

Today Preservation Chicago leads a city-wide bus tour of its 2015 7 Most Endangered Places from 10:30am to 2pm. The tour will leave from the parking lot located at 4410 N. Ravenswood. Purchase tickets before the event for $15 or $12 (members). Additional details are available on Facebook.

Chicago Zine Fest

Day two of the Chicago Zine Festival runs from 11am to 6pm at the Plumbers Union Hall, 1340 W. Washington Blvd. In addition to the exhibition floor featuring zine publishers from across the country, there will be workshops and discussions throughout the day; see the festival site for details. Free.

Screening of Missing @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music present a free screening of the 1982 film Missing, about the disappearance of an American journalist in the 1973 Chilean coup. The screening happens at 1:00pm in the concert hall at 4544 N. Lincoln, and is followed by a discussion of recent developments in the case. CAF Scavenger Hunt

The Chicago Architecture Foundation hosts a scavenger hunt today, starting at 1pm at Buckingham Fountain Plaza, 301 S Columbus Dr. The hunt will take you (and one to three of your friends) through the Loop looking for clues in the buildings, streets and public art. The cost is $25 for CAF members, $35 for non-members. There's also a noncompetitive family version of the hunt that's only $10 for non-members and free for members.

Chicago River Day

Metropolitan Planning Council and Friends of the Chicago River present Chicago River Day, a festival on an old railroad bridge, featuring music by Windy City Soul Club, food trucks, drinks and family-friendly activities, from 1 to 4pm today on Bridge #Z-2 -- better known as the old railroad bridge connecting the northernmost tip of Goose Island with North Avenue. Free.

Elaine Hegwood Bowen @ Woodson Regional Library

Author Elaine Hegwood Bowen she reads from her book Old School Adventures From Englewood -- South Side of Chicago today from 2 to 4pm at Woodson Regional Library, 9525 S. Halsted St. Free.

You're Being Ridiculous @ Mayne Stage

You're Being Ridiculous, the sassy, funny and fun storytelling show created by Jeremy Owens, is back tonight in its new home at Mayne Stage. With three shows this month, there's sure to be a date that matches your calendar. Come out tonight to hear stories on the theme "Appetite" from Samantha Bailey, Kelly Duff, Elizabeth Gomez, Dana Norris, Jeremy Owens, Allison Shoemaker, and Parker Stockman. Doors open at 6:30pm and stories start at 7:30pm at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave.Tickets are $15 online. There is no better way to celebrate spring!

You Are Here Festival

The You Are Here Festival, aka The Maze, makes its Chicago debut at Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport St., May 7-24. The festival takes place inside a maze, immersing attendees in the experience that includes light shows, art installations, audio experiments and live performances. Tonight's performers include Zs and Greg Fox. The fest runs from 9pm to midnight. Tickets are $10. 21+
