Hot Mix Lunch @ Daley Plaza
Starting today from noon-1pm, enjoy free house music from the Chosen Few DJs under the Picasso in Daley Plaza downtown. The "Hot Mix Lunch" will take place once a month this summer by the same awesome collective who bring you The Chosen Few Picnic on July 4 in Jackson Park.
Aleksandar Hemon @ Hideout
Aleksandar Hemon celebrates the release of his new book, The Making of Zombie Wars, with a party tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. In addition to the typical reading and Q&A, there will be actors portraying characters from the book. Doors open at 5pm, stuff starts happening at 6pm. Free, 21+
Chicago Underground Film Festival
The Chicago Underground Film Festival runs May 13-17 at the Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave. Tonight's opening reception begins at 6pm in the lounge, followed by a screening of the short Echoes and the feature Ruined Heart: Another Lovestory Between a Criminal and a Whore at 8pm. An afterparty follows at 9:30pm at Elastic Arts, 3429 W. Diversey Ave. Tickets for opening night are $15.
Oral @ the Annoyance
Moth StorySLAM winner Erin Diamond and Comedian Bente Engelstoft host Oral, a new weekly storytelling hour at the Annoyance Theatre and Bar, 951 W. Belmont Ave., at 8pm. This week's readers include Rob Grabowski, Wolfgang Stein, Meaghan Strickland, Jo Scott and Zach Zimmerman. Admission is $8.
