Chicago Craft Beer Week Begins

Tastings, samplings, crawls, and tap takeovers are at the center of this 10 day-long celebration of craft beer at bars all over the city. There are too many events to list here, but the opening and closing events (Beer Under Glass and the Welles Park Craft Beer Festival) are must-attends if you love the suds.

Beer Under Glass @ Garfield Park Conservatory

Enjoy beer while you view the lovely foliage of Garfield Park Conservatory (300 N. Central Park) at this annual event sponsored by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild and Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance. Event runs 6:30-9:30pm; tickets $60-90, and you get a commemorative glass.

Chicago Underground Film Festival

The Chicago Underground Film Festival runs May 13-17 at the Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave. Tonight's programming includes L for Leisure at 6:30pm, Shorts program 1 at 7pm, Navajazo at 8:30, and Critical Paranoia 2 at 9pm. Tickets are $9 per program.

Babymetal @ House of Blues

Japanese female metal idol band Babymetal headlines House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St., tonight. Doors open at 6:30pm, show's at 8pm. Tickets are $45. All ages.

Heaters @ Schubas

Grand Rapid's Heaters has a sound out of 60s spacey psych-rock, melodic and fuzzy guitars whirring all over the place. Their latest album Solstice is perfect for sunny summer days. Heaters headline Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., tonight, with Chicago bands Uh Bones and Bleach Party opening. The show's $8 in advance, $10 at the door and 18+. It starts at 9pm.
