The School of House @ Pritzker Pavilion

The Dutch School of House brings a "Masterclass" and dance party to the home of house music tonight. The Masterclass starting at 5pm will feature speakers discussing the roots of dance music in Chicago House and the industry's future in Europe and around the world. The dance party starting at 6:30pm includes DJs from the Netherlands and Chicago. It all goes down at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Free.

Scott Rowan @ Harold Washington Library

Author Scott Rowan will be at the Harold Washington Library Center today to discuss his book The Cubs Quotient: How the Chicago Cubs Changed the World, in which he uses baseball to teach global history to sports fans, focusing specifically on what he calls "the four tenets of civilization": law/order, commerce, religion, and entertainment.

The event will be held in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium on the Library's Lower Level at 6pm. Admission to the event is free; books will be available for purchase, and the author will be signing autographs. Seating is first come, first served in the auditorium, which seats 385. The Harold Washington Library Center is located at 400 S. State St.

Tuesday Funk @ Hopleaf

Tuesday Funk, the eclectic monthly reading series, gives a warm June welcome to guests Emily Nordling, Hannah Gamble, Christa Desir, Mary Lorenz and Kirsten Jensen tonight in the upstairs lounge at Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St. Doors open at 7pm sharp -- no earlier, alas, but get there as close to 7 as possible to grab a table, as the room fills up quickly -- and the show begins promptly at 7:30pm. Andrew Huff and Eden Robins co-host. Admission is free, but you must be 21 or older. RSVP on Facebook.

Get Real: Docs at the Box @ Music Box Theatre

Every Tuesday evening in June the Music Box Theatre is screening recent documentaries, with post-screening discussions with directors and experts. Tonight's film is Saving Mes Aynak, about an archeological site in Afghanistan threatened by a Chinese mining corporation. Pecha Kucha @ Martyrs'

Pecha Kucha returns to Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight for another round of people telling stories based on 20 slides shown for 20 seconds apiece. Speakers this time include Hannah Green, Matthew Hoffman, Joyce Fernandes, T Graham Brown, Cynthia CStyle Stewart and Mary Ruth Albert. The show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. 21+
