To celebrate what would have been Saul Bellow's 100th birthday, the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame has brought several large names together tonight to honor the Nobel Prize winner. Scott Turow will be discussing Bellow's legacy and impact on the Chicago literary scene. The Vitalist Theatre will also recognize Bellow by performing a scene from Joanne Koch's adaptation of The Silver Dish, as well as readings from other classics.
The event starts at 6pm in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium. Admission is free, but seating is limited to 385, and is first come first served. The library is located at 400 S. State St.
If you caught Hozier's show at the Riv this past winter you know the Irish singer-songwriter lives up to his hype. Now imagine enjoying that smooth, silky voice al fresco in the Chicago summertime. Hozier plays an outdoor show at the Pritzker Pavilion today at 7pm with Dawes opening. Pritzker Pavilion is located at 201 E. Randolph Street. Tickets are sold out.
Moth StorySLAM winner Erin Diamond and Comedian Bente Engelstoft host Oral, a new weekly storytelling hour at the Annoyance Theatre and Bar, 951 W. Belmont Ave., at 8pm. This week's readers include Morgan Lord, Kenzie Seibert, Thomas Kelly and Marty Schousboe. Admission is $8.
