Frederick A.O Schwarz and Aziz A. Huq @ Harold Washington Library

Author Frederick A.O. Schwarz will be discussing his book, Democracy in the Dark: The Seduction of Government Secrecy, tonight at 6pm in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium on the Lower Level of the Harold Washington Library Center. The book focuses on providing context to allow its readers to better understand government secrecy, and what happens when there are those that break that secrecy, such as Edward Snowden.

Admission to the event is free; books will be available for purchase, and the author will be signing autographs. Seating is first come, first served in the Auditorium, which seats 385. The Library is located at 400 S. State St.

Do Not Submit Pilsen

Check out the Pilsen's version of Do Not Submit, an open mic event featuring seven-minute stories told by local writers and community members, at La Catrina Cafe, 1011 W 18th. Arrive by 7pm to sign up for a slot, and stories start at 7:30pm. Free.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Summer Series

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago debuts their second program solely comprised of pieces created by Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo. Cerrudo became the company's first Resident Choreographer in 2009, and has since choreographed 13 pieces with Hubbard Street. The Series will feature a wide range of Cerrudo's pieces, including the world premiere of his 14th piece created for the Company. Tonight's show starts at 7:30pm at the Harris Theater at 205 E. Randolph. Tickets are $25-94.

Jurassic Park @ Pottawattomie Park

On the same day that Jurassic World hits theaters, watch the classic Jurassic Park while you are also in a park, tonight at Pottawattomie Park, 7340 N. Rogers Ave. The movie starts at 8:30pm, and it's free.
