The Grant Park Apprentice Chorale will be performing today at 12:15pm as a part of the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series. The Chorale is a training program for pre-professional vocal students from DePaul and Roosevelt Universities. The performance will be held in the Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center, located at 78 E. Washington. Admission is free.
Everybody's Coffee, 935 W. Wilson Ave., presents the Chicago premiere of the documentary A Film About Coffee tonight. Doors open at 5:30pm, screening starts at 7pm, and a latte art barista throwdown follows at 9pm. Tickets are $15.
From 6-8pm, the AIC will be presenting the avant-garde film by Michael Snow, Wavelength, in Price Auditorium. The film will be shown on 16mm format and was created in 1966 over a one week time span. The event is free with museum admission. The AIC is located on 111 S. Michigan Avenue
The Stoop reading series is back at Rosa's, 3420 W. Armitage Ave., tonight at 7pm. Hosts Lily Be and Clarence Browley welcome featured readers Janeida Rivera, Cesar Zamudio and Melissa DuPrey, along with a couple open mic readers. The theme this month is "Word." 21+
Up-and-coming local band NE-HI headline the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight, with Deeper and DJ duo NOBLESAVAGE.US opening. Doors are at 8pm, show's at 9pm, and tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. 21+
The Chicago Reader's "Best of Chicago" issue hits newsstands, both real and virtual, on June 25th. To celebrate, they are hosting a "Best of" Concert featuring two Chicago born and bred bands, The O'My's and Mike Golden & Friends at Metro Chicago. Tickets to the show are $15, with doors opening at 8pm and the show beginning at 8:30pm. Ticket holders will also be entered into a raffle to win prizes that reflect the "best of Chicago", such as tickets to Pitchfork, a gift card to Lou Malnati's, or tickets to Riot Fest. Metro Chicago is located at 3730 N Clark St.
