Hosted by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Chicago, this year's Gold Coast Greek Fest will feature free admission, with live music and dancing, tours of the Cathedral, authentic Greek food and pastries, beer, wine and more, even valet parking. The fest will begin today at 4pm, and will also include a performance later tonight by DaJaVu and Company from 6-10 pm. The cathedral is located at 1017 N. LaSalle.
The Logan Square Arts Festival runs June 26-28, centered on the square itself as well as locations along Milwaukee Avenue and the surrounding area. The festival features art exhibitions in local galleries and businesses, live music on two stages on the square, food and drink vendors and family-friendly activities. The festival runs from 6 to 10pm tonight.
A pop-up exhibition located at Tusk will feature 30+ artists tonight at an opening reception from 7-9pm. Tusk is located at 3205 W Armitage Avenue. Pot Shop Pop Up is free and open to the public.
Johalla Projects, 1821 W. Hubbard, Suite 209, hosts an opening reception for Signs of the Times, a new exhibition of work by street artist Dont Fret, tonight from 6 to 10pm. Wheat pastings and stylized characters that project humor, neighborhood culture, and charm, will be exhibited in the show which is on view until July 31.
There's a marriage equality victory rally tonight at 7pm at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St. Free.
The Peruvian Folk Dance Center will be performing tonight at 8:30pm at the Old Town School of Folk Music's Szold Music and Dance Hall, 4545 N. Lincoln, along with the Sol Andino Band, as a part of the Old Town School's Global Dance Party Series. The weekly series offers participants an opportunity to experiment with various global styles. The evening is composed of a dance class, followed by two hours of live music where students can test out their new skills. Tickets are $12.
Package the Jesus & Mary Chain's noise with Hole's grunge and that's pretty close to PINS. The Manchester band has been at it for a few years now. Their Girls Like Us debut started to turn heads. They're back with Wild Nights and now they're coming to Chicago for the first time. PINS headlines the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., tonight, with Future Thieves and Sadie and the Shark opening. Tickets are $12, and doors open at 9pm. 21+
