Festa Italiana runs Aug. 13-16 on Taylor Street between Ashland and Racine. Enjoy Italian food from local restaurants, shop for arts and crafts, and enjoy live music on three stages. $5 suggested donation. The festival runs from 5 to 10pm tonight.
From 6-9pm, "Synaesthetica", will open at the International Museum of Surgical Science and feature the work of Chicago-based artist Stevie Hanley. The museum is located at 1524 N Lake Shore Drive.
Join In These Times at ther Logan Square office at 2040 N. Milwaukee Ave. for a discussion with historian Kevin Schultz on his new book, Buckley and Mailer: The Difficult Friendship That Shaped the Sixties, tonight at 7:30pm. Schulz will discuss the book with In These Times Associate Editor Micah Uetricht, and video clips from Mailer and Buckley's various encounters with each other and others will also be shown. Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave., hosts the Chicago Nerds Comedy Festival, featuring various players in the nerd comedy scene, starting tonight and running through Aug. 16. The festival features a range of sketch comedy shows and funny plays; see the schedule for details. Tonight's shows begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 per show, or get a festival pass for $65.
