Hot Mix Lunch @ Daley Plaza
Today from noon-1pm, enjoy free house music from the Chosen Few DJs under the Picasso in Daley Plaza downtown. The "Hot Mix Lunch" will take place once a month this summer by the same awesome collective who bring you The Chosen Few Picnic every year.
The Street Arcade @ Hyde Park Art Center
The Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave., presents The Street Arcade from 7 to 9:30pm tonight. Artists Steve Ciampaglia and Kerry Richardson are collaborating with 13 teen artists to create original, retro-style videogames. Each teen chooses an issue as the theme, then designs the gameplay, creates the 8-bit artwork and programs the game. The Plug-In Studio will feature the games in an outdoor videogame arcade with old school console controllers and large-scale video projection. The public is invited to play the games, meet the teen artists, and discuss the issues that inspired their games.
Losing Ground @ Film Row Cinema
Chicago Filmmakers presents a screening of Losing Ground, a 1988 film directed by Kathleen Collins, tonight at 7pm. at Columbia College's Film Row Cinema, 1104 S. Wabash Ave. The film was one of the first features directed by an African-American woman. Tickets are $8.
Marnie @ Northeastern
The Northwest Chicago Film Society has moved to the Auditorium at Northeastern Illinois University, Building E, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., and tonight's film is Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie, starring Tippi Hedron and Sean Connery. The film is at 7pm. Ticket's are $5.
