The first annual Chicago Museum Week runs Oct. 1-7. A dozen museums (Adler Planetarium, Art Insitute, Chicago History Museum, DuSable Museum, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, MCA, Museum of Science & Industry, National Museum of Mexican Art, National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Shedd Aquarium) are offering free or discounted admission as well as special events and exhibits. The closing ceremony for the South Asian Film Festival takes place today showing "Devi," translated in English as "Goddess," a 1960 Bengali drama directed by Satyajit Ray. For $35, you get to watch the film, meet and converse with one of the stars, Ms. Sharmila Tagore, and the founding director of Satyajit Ray Film & Study Collection, Dr. Dilip Basu. The Chicago Sinfonietta presents "Tap In. Turn Up." tonight at 7:30pm at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave. Led by Sinfonietta Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, the program "will celebrate the beauty of rhythm offering audiences a new way of hearing, and viewing well-loved classical works." The music will accompany performances by Clinard Dance Theatre and DC-based tap dancer Cartier Williams. Tickets are $18-60, with student tickets available for $10.
