One of a Kind Show @ Merchandise Mart

The annual One of a Kind Show opens today and runs through Sunday at the Merchandise Mart, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, 7th floor. Hours today are 11am - 8pm. Tickets are $12 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Special ticket packages are also available online. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital.

The Last Speakeasy @ The Chicago History Museum

The Chicago History Museum celebrates the 82nd anniversary of the end of Prohibition tonight with 1930s-style music, dancing, history and cocktails at the museum, 1601 N. Clark St. "The Last Speakeasy: On the Eve of Repeal" will be celebrated from 6:30 to 10:30pm. Experts will discuss Chicago's historic gangsters and bootleggers and Chicago nightlife during Prohibition and show 1930s fashion from the museum's vintage collection.Tickets are $85 but the event is sold out. Live Comix @ Cards Against Humanity Theater

Interested in comics? How about performance? Local cartoonists will read aloud from their work accompanied by a projector at Cards Against Humanity Theater, 1917 N. amfm Jazz Series @ National Museum of Mexican Art

A lively lineup of musicians is on the schedule for the amfm Jazz Series tonight at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St. in Pilsen. Groups to be featured are the Jeff Gibbs Quartet, Koku Gonza, Cole DeGenova and the amfm Jazz Series house band, the Hazy Drips. The amfm Jazz Series is a monthly traveling art and music series featuring local musicians that takes place in various galleries and spaces in Pilsen. The series features jazz music often infused with hip-hop, funk, soul and indie. Music until 10pm. Free admission.

The Wonderful World of Industrial Musicals @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave., presents an evening of industrial musicals hosted by former Simpsons writer Steve Young. The show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $11 and can be purchased in advance. (773) 871-6604.

H. Melt Book Release @ Women & Children First

Author H. Melt will read from and sign their new book, The Plural, The Blurring, a collection of poems and essays that critically celebrate Chicago’s queer and trans communities, tonight at 7:30pm at Women & Children First, 5233 N. Clark St. Free.

Secret History of Chicago Music Book Release @ Empty Bottle

The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., hosts the book release party for My Kind of Sound: The Secret History of Chicago Music Compendium, a compilation of over 10 years' worth of drawings and band biographies from the Chicago Reader feature Secret History of Chicago. The book will be available for purchase, and author Steve Krakow will be available for signing! And in addition, Bobby Conn presents "My Chicago: A Multi Media Presentation," and ONO, Athanor and VCSR perform live. Admission is $8 or free with an RSVP; see the Empty Bottle site for details.
