The Old Town School of Folk Music hosts a Holiday Craft Bazaar today from 10:30am to 5pm in the East Lobby at 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. All the work for sale is made by students, staff and teachers at the school. Admission is free.
The Chicago Art Girls are hosting their annual holiday pop up shop at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School (3730 N. Oakley Avenue) today and tomorrow from 11am to 5pm. More than 40 of the city's best artists and artisans will be selling a variety of items perfect for gift giving to others, or yourself. They're also collecting donations for Common Pantry and hosting a raffle to give proceeds to them.
Time Out Chicago presents The Grilled Cheese Meltdown today at 1st Ward in Chop Shop, 2033 W. North Ave. Sample grilled cheese renditions from 10 local restaurants, paired with craft beer. There are three sessions, 11:30am-1:30pm, 2-4pm and 4:30-6:30pm. Tickets to each are $30.
The Handmade Market runs from noon to 4pm at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. Shop for locally made crafts, art, food and more. Admission is free; 21 and over unless accompanied by an adult.
The CSO presents a 25th anniversary screening of Home Alone with live orchestra accompaniment Dec. 11-13 in Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave. Today's performance is at 3pm. Tickets are $55 to $125, and are nearly gone. Purchase online or through the box office at 312-294-3000.
The Kartemquin Films/ITVS co-production Almost There is back by popular demand this weekend with a flurry of special events at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Today's 5:15pm screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Co-Director/Cinematographer Aaron Wickenden and Environmental Cinematographer David Schalliol, who will discuss their contrasting approaches to cinematography and how each balanced the other in the finished film. The event is co-sponsored by the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
Rational Park, 2557 W. North Ave., is closing at the end of the month, so tonight it's hosting First And Last Annual Rational Park Holiday Party Art Show & Pop-Up Shop from 6 to 11pm. The show will feature holiday decorations by more than 15 local designers and artists, as well as zines, comics, cards, prints, shirts, toys, and more.
