Curing the Ping Pong Blues
Some Chicagoans complain of seasonal depression caused by the cold and dreary winters. Others lament about noise produced by the seemingly endless construction. Personally, my sleepless nights and listless behavior are induced by a lack of Ping Pong. Before you laugh or dismiss my ailment, please imagine struggling with the following symptoms: jittery hands, the constant soundtrack of a superb volley, the overwhelming desire to wear wristbands at all times, and diarrhea (possibly unrelated).
Fortunately, several months of therapy provided the support structure necessary to defeat my affliction. If you or someone you know also suffers from Ping Pong Blues (MHA), continue reading for help. You CAN change your life!
Southport Lanes. Table Tennis fans can enjoy seven weeks of action for only $65. Each week, participants play two Singles matches and one Doubles match followed by a single-elimination tournament. Southport Lanes - a former Schlitz-only establishment - is also home to Billiards and Bowling on a regular basis (Hooray for the Schlitz-only repeal!).
Chi-Slam Club. Joining an organization is another option for avid players, offering pre-scheduled daily playing time and training from certified professionals. The Chi-Slam Club currently operates three locations: Downtown, South Side, and China Town. Also, the group is currently planning a North Side location.
Respond in the comments with other locations or match challenges for the author. My serves have wickedly deceptive spin.
