Volunteers Needed for Subaru Cup
If you're free the weekend of June 14 and 15, and you like elite mountain bike racing, feel free to head up north to the land of cheese curds, and volunteer to help run the WORS 2008 Subaru Cup. Help's needed to time the individual events, set-up and take down the course markers, assist the kid's race, and so on. You'll get fed and get clothed in a limited-edition race t-shirt, but the big reward is being up close to some pretty awesome racing.
The Subaru Cup is run in a ski area up in Wautoma, Wisconsin, which is a bit of a haul from Chicago, but all the same, will draw a huge crowd of cyclists from flat and windy land who find their thrills in the dirt. With few exceptions, most regional mountain bike racing is run up in the land of cheese curds, and this race is one of the big ones of the season. Even if you're not so inclined to help out, feel free to register and race – there are First Timer, Citizen, and Sport classes for those who wouldn't go so far as to describe their mountain biking skills as ranking up there with those in the Elite category.
