Wrapping-up the Road and Track
This upcoming weekend is the ABR Masters' National Road Race Championship in West Lake Village, just a bit past Rockford. Racing age categories for men and women start at 30 and work upwards in 5 and 10 year increments, all the way to 80+. This course is the same as the Fall Fling a week later, so this race is worth considering not just for the winner's jersey, but also as a way to recon for the next week's races.
Speaking of the Fall Fling, several criteriums and a time-trial make up the rest of the weekend, with those races are considerably closer than the road race. With over $9K in prizes and cash, this could be the perfect way to test the spring in your legs in a breakaway or field sprint. Register now, here.
Last Thursday, the Ed Rudolph Velodrome saw the last official track racing of the year, with a BBQ, trackstand competition, and an awesome rock band. Oh, the bike racing was serious, too.
Henry Loud slaughtered the competition in the trackstand competition, handily beating Nico West of XXX Racing-Athletico, Jeff Perkins of the Chicago Cuttin' Crew, among others.
Ed White took some great photos, including a few of the Officials' Race.
Results aren't yet posted, but keep an eye on the ERV website for when they do.
