Raptors Enter the Slaughter House

The surging, undefeated Chicago Slaughter (2-0), the city's last remaining indoor football team, should have an easy time of it Friday night when they take on the winless Rock River Raptors (0-2). But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's recap their last game, via out (wo)man on the inside, Slaughter PR maven Kristina Wells:

Slaughter Slips Past Wisconsin, moves to 2-0

The Chicago Slaughter (2-0) of the Continental Indoor Football League topped the Wisconsin Wolfpack (1-1) 40-36 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison Wisconsin Saturday night. Ahead for most of the game, the Slaughter beat a stronger-than-expected Wolfpack squad in a game that went down to the wire.

After four lead changes between the two teams and the score tied 21-21 in the second quarter, QB Russ Michna connected on a two-yard touchdown pass to OL Rasche Hill to put the Slaughter up 27-21. WR Dontrell Jackson then followed up with a three-yard rushing touchdown to put the team up 34-21 and give the team a lead they would not relinquish.

The Wolfpack did make the game close in the second half, as QB Tim Stetzer hit WR Eric Donoval for a five-yard touchdown to trim the Slaughter lead to 4-36 with just over a minute left. However, Chicago recovered an ensuing on-side kick to run out the clock and preserve the victory.

Michna led the way offensively for the Slaughter, throwing three touchdowns through the air, and scoring two rushing touchdowns. He finished the night, going 11-24 for 111 yards, while rushing for 46 yards on eight carries. WR Reggie Gray had five catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns, while Jackson hauled in five catches for 48 yards and scored on a three-yard touchdown rush.

Defensively, DB Austin Smith (nine tackles), LB DeJuan Alfonzo (seven tackles) and DB Dennison Robinson (five tackles) each recorded an interception, while DB Sidney Lewis led the team with 11 tackles.

The Slaughter will face the Rock River Raptors (0-2) at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates on March 27th at 7:05 p.m. For ticket information, please call the Chicago Slaughter office at (847) 310-3190 or go to the web site at www.ChicagoSlaughter.com.
