Will The Bulls Make The Playoffs?

The ongoing chase for the final seed in the Eastern Conference is, seemingly, more and more likely becoming Chicago's to lose. Will they make it?Tailgatetries to answer that question and more!

Last night the Bulls won the season series against the depleted and awful Washington Wizards and won some good old-fashioned vengeance against the Wiz, after being shellacked in front of the Leader of the Free World/Bulls Fan, Barry Obama, last month. Aside from the satisfaction of, you know, clubbing the doormat of the East, the Bulls also further improved their chances of making the playoffs and the likely beatdown at the hands of Cleveland or Boston/Orlando that will come with the 7th or 8th seed.

Tonight, live from the United Center, Chicago will be matching up with the struggling and currently 7th seeded Detroit Pistons. Detroit --who, admittedly, has had the NBA Central Division in a perennial headlock for this century-- is having a down year and Chicago, at a mere 2 games behind the Pistons, could do so much to enhance their playoff chances with a win tonight, especially with fierce Miami and upset-minded Indiana coming up the rest of the week. Tonight's game is even more important considering that Chicago's nearest competition for the final spot, Charlotte and Mlwaukee, are playing Washington and Toronto*, respectively this week. The Bulls have ben rather sluggish on the second game of back-backs so we'll see if they can conjure some of the good mojo that has been flowing around the UC the past month or so. Also, and more an amusement than anything else, for the second time in less than a week: VDN will be, ahem, matching wits with another "savant" of the League. Yes after bashing brains with Doc Rivers last week, Vinny will get to tussle with Michael Curry in what is sure to be a cerebral tug-o-war for the ages.

Yes, they'll make the playoffs! The east is so bad that they'll probably end up in 7th (and maybe even 6th, I wouldn't be surprised if both Philly & Detroit fall apart). They'll play the Celtics tougher than you'd think, and will take a game or two in the first round (which will only complicate the roster changes that are needed).

We'll see, SR. The Bulls have been very, very up and down but I do agree that they could pose a matchup nightmare for the Celts if KG doesn't come back at full-strength for the playoffs.
